#252 - Kee Jefferys on Encryption, Privacy and Encrypted Messaging

Kee Jeffreys is the CTO of Session, a fork of Signal and an encrypted messaging app. Session is a private messaging app that protects your metadata, encrypts your communications, and makes sure your messaging activities leave no digital trail behind. In this conversation we covered encryption, privacy, encrypted messaging, their cryptocurrency Oxen, and the Proof of Stake vs Proof of Work. 
You don’t need a mobile number or an email to make an account with Session. Your display name can be your real name, an alias, or anything else you like. Session does not collect any geolocation data, metadata, or any other data about the device or network you are using. At launch, Session used proxy routing to ensure nobody can see who you’re messaging or the contents of those messages. Shortly after launch, Session moved to our onion routing system, which we call onion requests, for additional privacy protection.

Raffaello Pantucci is the co-author of the book Sinostan, alongside Alexandros Petersen. China's rise is changing the world. Much attention has been given to how China's geo-economic vision is playing out in the global economy, or how its technology is reshaping the planet, yet it is over its western borders, in Central Asia, that China's influence has been quietly expanding in a more pervasive way. It is here that you can find the first strand of Xi Jinping's grand Belt and Road Initiative, China's new Silk Road to the West. It is to the Eurasian heartland that we can look for an understanding of China's new foreign policy vision and its consequences.

#248 - Dr Craig Wright - Is BSV Bitcoin?: Will The Real Satoshi Please Stand Up

Dr Craig Wright is the most controversial person I believe I have ever had on my podcast. Numerous people told me not to speak to him, that he is a crook and swindler, and so I decided I wanted to find out for myself. 
Craig Wright claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto - the creator of Bitcoin. He has appeared in numerous court cases to argue that very fact, with the result never having proven definitively either way that he is Satoshi - though no court has yet found him to be lying about it either. 
Craig believes that BSV is the true Bitcoin, that BTC cannot possibly handle the number of transactions that will be required in the future at an affordable cost and so he has created BSV to solve that problem. He claims BTC, like ETH, is far too centralised, and that those who deny that he is the real Satoshi are simply scared that he will expose the "fraud" that is BTC.

#244 - Christopher Leonard - ”Fed-Pilled” - The Lords of Easy Money And The Federal Reserve

Christopher Leonard is the author of the new book The Lords of Easy Money: How the Federal Reserve Broke the American Economy.
If you asked most people what forces led to today’s unprecedented income inequality and financial crashes, no one would say the Federal Reserve. For most of its history, the Fed has enjoyed the fawning adoration of the press. When the economy grew, it was credited to the Fed. When the economy imploded in 2008, the Fed got credit for rescuing us.
But the Fed also has a unique power to reshape the American economy for the worse, which it did, fatefully, on November 4, 2010 through a radical intervention called quantitative easing. In just a few short years, the Fed more than quadrupled the money supply with one goal: to encourage banks and other investors to extend more risky debt. Leaders at the Fed knew that they were undertaking a bold experiment that would produce few real jobs, with long-term risks that were hard to measure. But the Fed proceeded anyway...and then found itself trapped. Once it printed all that money, there was no way to withdraw it from circulation. The Fed tried several times, only to see market start to crash, at which point the Fed turned the money spigot back on. That’s what it did when COVID hit, printing 300 years’ worth of money in two short months.
