#109 - Brian Frydenborg on the Capitol Storming, Twitter Bans, and Civil War

Brian Frydenborg, the journalist and author, was my guest on today’s show. He is the author of several books on the Trump/Russia connections, including his most recent book on Ukrainegate, the scandal being pushed by the Trump campaign as an attempt to discredit Joe Biden. We spoke about the Trump impeachment, the Capitol storming, and censorship online!
Brian Frydenborg is a freelance writer and consultant from the New York City area who has studied, written, and/or worked in public policy, politics, foreign affairs, security studies, international development, humanitarian aid, and history for two decades. In pursuit of these ends, Brian studied abroad in Japan, went to Liberia to study the UN peacekeeping mission there, went to Israel and Palestine to study the conflict there, and lived and worked for over five years in Jordan, starting in early 2014, until his return to the U.S. in mid-2019. He has been featured in Newsweek, The Jerusalem Post, the Modern War Institute at West Point, The London School of Economics and Politics Middle East Centre, Real Clear Defense, Business Insider, Small Wars Journal, and other diverse outlets. Microplastics are everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. Tiny little particles of plastic that break off from plastics in our clothes, rubbish, packaging, and basically anything plastic. But how much danger to they pose to humans, wildlife, or ecosystems? To discuss this I was lucky enough to get to chat to scientists Kate Rowley and Katy McCoy who have been researching the effects of microplastics on wildlife in rivers!

Ryan Hartwig, author and Facebook whistleblower for Project Veritas was my guest on today’s show. We covered the irregularities in the US election, the March on Washington, the covid lockdown restrictions, and the increasingly authoritarian over-reach of big tech censorship. Just to clear up one thing before we start, we discussed some mail-in ballot issues in Pennsylvania, but the story was based on a misunderstanding of figures between the June primary elections and the Presidential election. #103 - Jennifer Rauch on Slow Media, Digital Minimalism, and the 24 Hour News Cycle

Jennifer Rauch the author of Slow Media: Why Slow is Satisfying, Sustainable and Smart was my guest on today’s show. I came across her work when researching the idea of slow media. I have been reading a lot this year on the problems with the speed of modern technology and the modern news cycle so I was really interested in talking to someone who takes a fairly unique perspective in trying to reject as much as possible the 24 hour news cycle and our Twitter and Facebook based news consumption. We discussed the need to deliberately choose your news sources, fake news, misinformation, and why slow media can help us all gain more perspective and understanding of the world we inhabit.

James Dionne, author of Fahrenheit 1984: A Concerned Citizens Manifesto, was my guest on today’s show. I was put in touch with James after my episode on cyber torture was released, he’s a rap artist and author from Canada who has been a victim of organised harassment. I wanted to speak to him about his book, the problems with the term conspiracy theory, the power of governments and intelligence agencies and their capacity to be corrupted. #101 - Mel Corry on Trademark Belfast and Promoting Anti-Sectarian Dialogue

Mel Corry from Trademark Belfast was my guest on today’s show. Mel is a self-described retired hell raiser, banjo player and Communist. His work with Trademark is focused on going into workplaces and confronting our Northern Irish habit of employing a trifecta of politeness, avoidance, and denial to stop us confronting our sectarian past, the remnants of it that still exist within our society, and how we can improve those discussions and our relationships by actually discussing the issues that remain underlying in Northern Ireland today.
