Dr Ulrike Vieten on How To Understand Intersectionality

Dr Erkin Sidick on the Uyghur Genocide and Authoritarian China

Dr Erkin Sidick, was my guest on today’s show. Dr Sidiq is a Sr. Optical Engineer in space optical technologies at NASA, president of Uyghur Projects Foundation, and an activist for saving Uyghur language and culture. Right now, the Chinese government is in the middle of committing genocide on the scale of the Nazis Final Solution and the UN has just allowed China to join it’s Human Rights Council. The Uyghur people are being systematically imprisoned and murdered on a shocking scale and yet the world continues as normal. We said never again after the holocaust. Thus I wanted to highlight this issue and was very lucky to get Dr Sidick on my show to discuss this.

Dave Elliott on the Art of Comedy and Life as a Comedian

Dave Elliott, the Northern Irish comedian, was my guest on today’s show. Dave has become in his own words, almost an elder statesman of the Northern Irish comedy scene, having been around for 7 or 8 years now. He’s completed his first big tour entitled Dad (a rip off of Michael Jackson’s Bad album) and pre-covid was hosting the comedy night at Pug Ugly’s in Belfast. Dave has, just like us, recently moved his fantastic comedy podcast, The Sly Guy, across to video and YouTube, so I thought I’d get Dave on the show to talk about comedy, podcasting, censorship, and his life as a comic.

Jeffrey A. Tucker on Covid, Lockdowns, and Herd Immunity

Jeffrey A. Tucker, the Editorial Director at the American Institute for Economic Research was my guest on today’s show. They have been publishing a lot of material that has been highlighting the lack of evidence being produced to support the idea that lockdowns are effective at preventing the spread of covid-19. These are massive and unprecedented measures and now that we have almost a year’s worth of data to examine how effective our attempts around the world have been in dealing with the pandemic I think it is right to discuss whether these measures have been effective and proportionate. We all want the best for our individual countries and families and having a robust discussion about how we achieve that is the best way to do that. This was a really interesting and educational interview for me and I hope you will get something out of it. Tim Elliott on America, the Late Roman Republic, and Populism

Tim Elliott, an ancient historian researching populist politics in the Roman Republic, was my guest on today’s show. We had a really interesting conversation discussing an article he wrote that alludes to comparisons between the late Roman Republic and the current state of US politics, most intriguingly between Donald Trump and Julius Caesar. We explored the ideas of populism, the sources of populist support, the degradation of our institutions, and whether there is anything we can learn from looking at historical precedents.
